You Deserve Everything... Except What You Think You Do

Have you ever felt like you deserve more than what you're getting? I think that’s a pretty common feeling, especially when you're in the middle of a rough patch. In those moments, it’s easy to believe that the world should align with your very specific expectations—because, obviously, you know best. More often than not, this leads to conflict with others when you're demanding what you believe you deserve. Guess what? That rarely ends well.

But here’s the thing—what if what you think you deserve isn’t actually what you need? How could you possibly judge that accurately? Don’t tell me you haven’t seen someone who’s totally convinced they deserve something, and you’re standing there thinking, “Really? That’s what you deserve?” And what if, instead, what you really deserve is to go through the current situation to improve and become the next version of yourself?

Now, why am I bringing up this whole "deserving" thing? Because entitlement is the best way to misjudge a situation and end up making things worse. When you’re walking around thinking you deserve something, you start waiting for it to magically fall into your lap—without putting in the effort. You might feel you deserve that promotion, but if you’re not actually doing the work? Well, the universe isn’t just going to hand you a trophy and a corner office. Sorry, that’s not how it works.

The cold, hard truth is that everything worth having needs to be earned. And when you finally earn it, you’re not standing there shouting, “I told you I deserved that!” No, you’re just casually high-fiving yourself because your hard work actually paid off. Entitlement is not the way to succeed, and it’s definitely not the way to move ahead—unless you enjoy being stuck in a cycle of disappointment.

Here’s the reality: shift that mindset. Worthwhile things require effort—whether it’s physical, emotional, or both. Supporting someone isn’t about them “deserving” it; it’s about you choosing to support them because you see potential in their journey. It’s not because they’re entitled to it but because you genuinely think they’re worth the effort. So, be grateful for the support you get, stay humble about your victories, and maybe even give yourself a little fist bump when you make progress.

But here’s the kicker: stop demanding what you think you deserve. Sometimes, what you get might actually be what you deserve—and trust me, it might not be the grand prize you were hoping for. So, please take a deep breath, keep grinding, and Make It Possible. Because at the end of the day, the universe isn’t going to hand you what you want—but it will give you what you’ve worked for.
